In the process of making my music magazine.

Today I have started to make my front cover.

I have chosen a portrait picture and made the background white by using the magic wand tool which I have learnt to use. I filled in a font and put it onto the page and layered the picture over the font because magazines from my research have used that technique and I like it. The purple bar at the top is from the shapes selection on photoshop. I am using it for my top line on my magazine.

For my edits, I used photoshop. I changed the brightness to give a whiter background. I also used the magic wand tool to cut out my model and make the apperance of the image neater. As well as this, I have used the smudge tool to make the models skin look flawless which is what professional images have.

When you preview my photo shoot, you will begin to realise that there are photos of the same model until the end where there are pictures of two different models. This is because they are images that will be used on a contents page or the front cover because in my research I have realised that every magazine has more than one artist displayed in the magazine.

For my magazine, I would like to take a variety of pictures that are close up, high angle and long shot.

Front Cover
For my front cover, I will take a portrait picture so that it takes up the whole length of the front page. This portrait shot will be a long shot so that the reader can clearly see the models outfits and allow them to interpret what their personalities are like before they read on.

Contents Page
For my contents page, I will use a series of close up photos of different models who are existing artists in my magazine. This is so that there is a variety of pictures and not using the same consistent models at all times. As well as this, I will use clothes because in pop magazines, there is typically articles of the artist's fashion.

Double Page Spread
For my double page spread, I am planning to use a variety of landscape pictures including thumbnails during the double page spread. The thumbnails will be close up shots and the double page spread picture will be a medium shot because some of the magazines that I have researched also have medium shot photos and close up thumbnails.

Photoshoot Title:  The Little Love Shoot.

Photoshoot Concept:
The concept of my magazine is to aim it at pop music fans that are typically teenage girls. My photo shoot will help me to do this by having a pop group who have a growing fan base.
Aims:

From this shoot, I would like to have photos that display a pop genre. I have done research before hand to give me an idea of what a pop magazine should look like.
Date & Timings:

This photo shoot will take place at around half 5 in the evening at the weekend so that we can do some photos outside in the dark which look more natural and like they have been done by the paparazzi. I have to make sure that the models are free at half 5 on a Saturday to ensure that the shoot can continue. For most of the photos, I will take them inside, however, I will check the weather for the outside photos so that I am able to go and take the photos outside without the rain.
Location:

The photo shoot will take place in an empty room in my house and outside my house. This enables me to have a blank background and not have to worry about the weather, The outside shoot enables me to have a change of location to give the magazine a variety of pictures.
Props:

In my shoot, I will only use cars as a prop. This is because it will look like the photos were taken by paparazzi. Also, I will use shoes because it displays the artist's fashion for my contents page.
Models:

There will be two models for the front cover and double page spread, Rhianna Ede and Kira Mulcahy. There will be two different models for the contents page - Alex Walker and Lauren Carslake, to show a variety of articles that the magazine has to offer to the reader.
Team:

I will do the makeup for Rhianna and Kira and they will do their hair themselves.
Equipment & Preparation:

Before doing the shoot, I have to charge my camera batteries for the Nikon D3200. I will use a 18-55mm lens. I don’t need any additional lighting for the inside shoot but when I go outside, I will use the compulsory camera flash to add a bit of extra light to make the images clearer.

Planning the photo shoots location.

For my photo shoot, I want it to be as natural as possible. Therefore, I am going to use a blank screen inside my house. Even though it's not very exciting, it actually allows me to have my models wearing nice outfits whereas if it was somewhere like a park, they'd want to be wrapped up and not wearing dresses and heels. Also, this way is more beneficial because it looks more like a professional photo shoot. However, my house isn't the only location, due to it being winter, there is no leafs on the trees. This gives me the opportunity to take pictures outside with the twigs over hanging the photos. Also, using nice cars to make the photo look more professional as famous people are obviously going to have nice cars and it will look like they've been caught by paparazzi which allows a different side of the artists personality to shine through to the reader by looking at the photos.

Design for my front page.

For my front page design I have shown that a picture will take up the whole page. This is because I can layer the headlines and logo over it to make it look well structured and to show my layering skills on photo shop. The reasons for including other articles it to show the consumer that if they buy the magazine there is loads of interesting things that they can read about not just one thing.

Design for my contents page.

As well as having articles on just music, I thought that I could add onto the contents that artists also have gossip and techniques  about fashion. Other magazines also do this too from previous research. The pictures that i'll include will be from my photo shoot and the buttons that I looked at in my typography. The problem with this design is that it might look clustered when it is done.

Equipment list, costumes and props for my photo shoot.

For my photo shoot, I will use a DSLR Camera with the camera flash. Also, I will have a blank screen so that the pictures don't have any objects in the surrounding. This makes the images look more professional. When it comes to editing my photos, I will use photoshop.

When I am taking the pictures, I plan for my models to have occassional outfit changes. The outfit changes that I have come up with is 'looking like you're going to a meeting'. The model wears a leopard print top with a tube skirt. Another outfit change is 'going to a party'. The model wears a black sparkly playsuit with a belt. Another outfit change is 'Evening wear'. The model wears a glittery dresses. The final outfit change is 'casual but stylish'. The model wears a nude top, grey leggings and grey heels.

For my contents page photo shoot, my model will wear a glittery dress in the style of 'Evening wear'.






In my photoshoot, there are simple props such as clutch bags, cars and trees to give a more natural but glamorous effect.

Design of my double page spread.

I am going to put a quote from the article over the portrait photo to make the page look like it is structured. I am going to put the article into columns to make sure that it isn't clustered and so that it is easy and straight forward to read. I am going to put three landscape photos in the bottom of the page to show the personality of the models which will allow the reader to feel like they are engaging with the magazine. I am also adding a thumbnail so that it helps the article to create as much imagery to the reader as possible. The reason that I am putting the pictures on the right hand side rather than the left is because the best double page spread articles that I researched always had the photos on the right and it always looked tidy and well structured.

Typography and choosing a logo.

I have picked out some fonts that I like but can also be used in a pop magazine. I found that by looking at fonts that would link to pop is actually quite hard, so I looked at the 'top of the pops' font and I found that it's curvy and in your face. From looking at that font, I went into looking at rounded fonts. From this, I did colour changes to see which would look best. I also put in some buttons that would be good to make the magazine look a little bit more intriguing and to fill up empty spaces but make it as girly as possible which is why I experimented with the pink. My favourite font is the top font because it stands out and looks pretty in any colour. After making this typography, I decided to do more colour edits with the font that I have chosen.

From my further manipulations of this font, I have decided that I like the first one. This is because it uses two really girly pinks but blends in together nicely and still allows you to be able to read the lettering. If I added any more manipulations to the font, the focus will go completely to the design and not the lettering which defeats the purpose of having an appropriate font.

Readers profile for my magazine.

The magazine I am making will be based on pop. Pop is a widespread genre that has the biggest audience globally of all ages and both genders. However, from my research, pop magazines such as 'Top of the Pops' and 'We Love Pop' are only aimed at teenage girls. For my magazine, I am also going to only aim my magazine towards teenage girls who are in the demographic E group. I am going to do this by the choice of colours such as pink, the well structured layout and the choices of pictures as well as the article which includes a bit of gossip about boys and clothes which teenage girls love. Also, I am planning on giving a free poster inside the magazine of 'Liberty Love'. Having a poster may appeal more to girls than boys. Although, I am not stopping boys from reading this magazine, it may increase the demand from boys for the magazine if there is a poster of two famous girls. The only bad thing about targeting my magazine at only teenage girls is that it doesn't appeal to boys because it means that not everyone will be attracted to buying it.

Stand First: Liberty Love started posting covers on Youtube. After thousands of views, subscribers and likes, a popular Youtuber finally noticed her and started to promote Liberty. With exciting relationship exclusives and a little gossip, Liberty Love is the one you want to be reading about!

Question: So I have heard that you are releasing a single next week! How you feeling?
Answer: I can't express the excitement that is inside of me, not going to lie though, I am nervous though!

Question: You're nervous? Whys that?
Answer: Yeah, its a bit of a mix of nervous and excited but I am nervous incase people don't like it but I am chasing my dreams and making my family proud.

Question: So a youtuber noticed you?
Answer: Yeah, it was a little bit weird, but I don't know if you have heard of Zoella? She commented on a video and then tweeted the link. The tweet got 2,081 retweets and 924 favourites. That is just a tad insane? Well, she has over 3 million subscribers who would've seen her comment on the video and just over a million twitter followers and some of them obviously clicked onto the link. Since then, our likes kept on increasing. Soon after, we believe Zoella interviewed One Direction and she said to them "have you seen Liberty Love's youtube covers?" and they said no but she showed them and then they recommended me to their label. That is a little crazy... I am a huge fan of One Direction as well so that was a pretty big deal!

Question: Did you ever think that posting covers on youtube would get you this far today?
Answer: Honestly, no way! But, it just goes to show that you should never lose hope. Chase all the dreams you have!

Question: So, if you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Answer: Oh wow, you know what, I wouldn't be able to just put it down to one person. I would love to collaborate with Tinie Tempah or Calvin Harris because look at how successful he is.

Question: So what is your song about?
Answer: Right, my song is about love. Obviously, my surname being Love made sense to have the debut single about love, right? It isn't super cheesy though, its enjoyable, easy to sing a long to and not like songs by Taylor Swift. I don't want to be like Taylor Swift. She is a bit boring, like her songs are the same all the time and are all about her tragic love life.

Question: Exciting, you don't like Taylor Swift?
Answer: Don't get me wrong, shes amazing! She has the perfect voice, absolutely gorgeous and she is global. She is living the dream! She is a big inspiration to a lot of people, especially me, we was just trying to say that we don't want to have songs like hers and have people say things like "All Liberty Love does is sing about her break ups".

Question: Would you ever like to collaborate with Taylor Swift?
Answer: Yes, Taylor Swift has an amazing ability to write songs. I reckon that a song with Taylor and I would be pretty awesome!

Question: I reckon it would be too! So, what are you like outside of the music bizz Liberty?
Answer: I am not what most people would think I am, I am actually quite shy. I don't understand how I actually managed to even have the courage to upload a video. I do like getting dressed up though but I am a trainer girl 100%. I have all the trainers lined out in my cupboard like they're my little children.

Question: Wow, are you seeing anyone?
Answer: I am! I do have a boyfriend, we have been together three years, he is incredibly proud of me. I love him to pieces, he is my rock. I'm getting a bit soppy, I think I should stop. But yeah, I have a boyfriend so I am not on the market!

Question: That's so sweet, any live performances coming up?
Answer: Big news, I am going on tour with One Direction! Eek! It is unreal and I cannot believe it. It's just great! So excited! But, I have also signed up to perform at Wireless Festival. So, got some good stuff coming for 2014. This will be my year!

Question: Wow, I'll have to get some VIP tickets! Any news on a debut album?
Answer: There is! My new debut album is coming out in April. It is am packed with 15 tracks and 2 bonus tracks on the deluxe edition. The name isn't allowed to be shared yet. Sorry!

Question: Is there anything that you'd like to say to your fans and anyone else?
Answer: I cannot thank everybody enough for all the lovely support and to Zoella and One Direction for helping me to get where I am today. Hopefully, this is just the start to an amazing career.
